AbstractFor some time now, migrant financial remittances internationally have been the target of politics and research in many ways. However, the predominant focus of looking at remittances is from a development perspective. This article looks at this approach from a critical perspective and calls for an expansion of the discussion on remittances by linking financial remittances and transnational family care.
Digital Storytelling and Multimodal Literacy in Education

This article argues in favour of using digital storytelling to encourage a critical socio-educational focus in education and include multimodal explicit teaching in the curriculum. The analysis of fifty digital stories indicates that the students developed a certain awareness of the issue chosen for their story (e.g. violence, racism, war) since the final product transmits a critical perspective on the topic itself. Further work, however, needs to be invested in the development of the digital story content itself and on the issue of multimodal learning, with especial emphasis on the interface between multimodal elements and more traditional modes of transmitting ideas.

A review of venous thromboembolism in COVID‐19: A clinical perspective

Abstract Coronavirus disease‐19 (COVID‐19) started in Wuhan, China in December 2019 and spread to all around the world in a short period of time. Hospitalized patients with COVID‐19 mostly could suffer from an abnormal coagulation activation risk with increased venous thrombosis events and a poor clinical course. The reported incidence rates of thrombotic complications in hospitalized COVID‐19 patients vary between 2.6 and 85% (both in non‐critically ill and critically ill patients). This article offers a critical perspective on one of the central concepts of IR and the English School of IR in particular, namely the concept of international society. It argues that the moral agency of international society and its ‘naturalness’ were affirmed simultaneously with the marginalization of the concept of societas designating contractual political relations. The article traces the concept of contracted societas back to the work of Hugo Grotius, an acclaimed founder of the ‘international society’ tradition.
